Weather
Situated a mere 15 miles from Venezuela's northern coastline, Aruba is a small tropical island just under 20 miles long and 6 miles across. The island has gorgeous, white-sand beaches, a desert-like interior and dramatic rock formations with a balmy average temperature of 82°F.

Culture
Modern-day Aruba remains a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, yet it independently functions with a separate government. The Dutch took control of Aruba in 1636, and its influence is still felt in the island's well-preserved and colorful architecture and local culture. In fact, windmills and wooden shoes can be found among the unique souvenirs and handicrafts throughout the local markets.

Shows & Events
The Occidental Grand Aruba features spectacular Las Vegas-style entertainment that's not to be missed. Nightly entertainment performed by local talent offers a sensational showcase brimming with terrific dramatic flair.

Convenience to shopping
While Aruba is not officially a duty-free destination, U.S. citizens can still take advantage of great duty-free deals on a spectrum of goods including crystal and china, watches, jewelry, perfume and more. Local artisans offer their handmade arts and crafts at harbor side and beachside stands and souvenirs are readily available at the local flea market and malls.

Golf Courses
Taking full advantage of Aruba's rugged scenery, the island's courses offer golfers a wide variety of challenging play. The Tierra del Sol course is the island's only PGA Championship-quality course offering desert links with sweeping ocean views. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the course is a tough 18-hole, par 71 and is considered by some as one of the top 5 courses in the Caribbean. The Aruba Golf Course lies on the island's southern end and features a 9-hole course, clubhouse, bar, storage rooms, workshop and locker-room facilities.

Dining & Entertainment
The Occidental Grand Aruba is a superb dining and entertainment destination in itself with six all-inclusive restaurants, a full-service casino and exciting Las Vegas-style shows. Dining options feature a sampling of tastes from different ethnic cuisines including Italian, Mexican, Pan-Asian and Caribbean fusion. The property itself is great for conventions, reunions, meetings and weddings and is convenient to the island's exciting nightlife.
Diving enthusiasts will appreciate the area's submerged attractions featuring several notable shipwrecks including The Antilla, a German freighter that at nearly 400 feet long is the Caribbean's largest wreck. Divers in search of an experience less intensive than wreck-diving will enjoy the color marine life inhabiting the local reef and wanna-be divers can try out their sea legs with Snuba, Sea Trek and snorkeling adventures.
